How do I stop payment on a check I wrote?

You can submit a real-time stop payment request for a single check or for a range of checks through online banking. Sign in to your online banking account, click Tools > Check Stop Payment. Your account will be charged $30 at the end of the day you submitted the request. The stop payment order will be in effect for six months from the date you submit the request, unless you tell us to cancel the order.

If you do not have access to our online banking system, please print and sign our Online Banking Access Agreement, then return the form to us by email at bank@firstib.com or toll-free fax at 1-888-644-8678. Within two business days, we will send you an email with the information you need to access your account online.

What if Remote Deposit Capture will not accept my item?

Unfortunately, not every item will meet all criteria for Mobile Deposit service. In these cases, please mail them to our physical address.

I don’t want to mail a check each month for my loan payment. Can I make an automatic payment electronically each month?

Absolutely! You can set up internal/bank to bank transfer by going to Move Money > Transfer.  OR can log into our payment portal outside of online banking by going to Other and clicking “Sign in” next to “Payments”.

If you have not yet set up online banking, you can call us toll-free at 1-888-873-3424 during normal business hours and we will help you set up online access.

Alternatively, you can complete the Authorization To Make Automatic Loan Payments form and return it using the instructions on the form. Per your instruction, First Internet Bank will withdraw funds from your account at another financial institution and credit your First Internet Bank loan account. We can begin automatic loan payments within 14 days of receiving your request. If you supply us with your email address when you complete the form, we will send an email confirmation to notify you when the set-up process is complete. What should I do if I want to make a debit card purchase but don’t have enough funds in my account?

If the amount of your purchase exceeds the available balance in your primary checking account, you can transfer funds (using telephone, online or mobile banking) from another account you have with First Internet Bank, including a savings account or overdraft line of credit account. Most transfers happen in real-time (instantly), so you can be approved for the purchase.
