First Internet Bank Recognized Nationally for STEM Mentoring EffortsReleased on August 27, 2015
First Internet Bank announced it has been recognized as a finalist in the national 2015 US2020 STEM Mentoring Awards. The awards acknowledged organizations for exceptional work in inspiring youth to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) fields. First Internet Bank was a finalist for the Excellence in Corporate Culture Award, which recognized national corporate partners as well as City Network corporate partners for promoting and supporting a culture of STEM volunteerism. Corporate Culture award recipients and finalists were evaluated in part by employee feedback as reported via the US2020 volunteer evaluation.
“First Internet Bank made the multi-year commitment to be a founding corporate partner for the Indianapolis US2020 initiative because we view this program as an important and valuable investment in the future of Indianapolis youth,” said David Becker, President and CEO. “I’m incredibly pleased with the level of our employee participation and dedication to student mentorship. Being recognized for our involvement is an honor, but the real reward is the service we have been able to provide. Volunteering has been as gratifying for the mentors from the Bank as it was for the kids involved.”
Winners and finalists for the competition were announced recently, following judging by a panel of STEM leaders from public and private sectors. US2020 received submissions from more than 80 organizations in 30 cities representing 13 states throughout the country. The Mentoring Awards included honors for Most Innovative Hands-On Project, Excellence in Volunteer Experience and Excellence in Corporate Culture.
