David B. Becker - President, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of
the Board.
Mr. Becker has served as Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of First IB since its inception and has served as President since January 2007. Mr. Becker has a history of successful start-up companies in financial services and technology. In 1981, he founded re:Member Data Services to provide electronic data processing services to credit unions throughout the United States. He served as CEO of re:Member Data Services until the company was acquired by Open Solutions Inc. (NASDAQ:OPEN) in 2004. In 1995, he founded VIFI, which provided Internet services to financial institutions and corporations from 1995 until it was acquired by Digital Insight Corporation (NASDAQ:DGIN) in 2002. Mr. Becker also founded, and remains actively involved as CEO of, three other Indianapolis-based companies: OneBridge, a credit and debit card processing firm; DyKnow, a company specializing in educational technology for interactive learning experiences; and RICS, a firm that provides inventory control and POS systems for retailers via the Web.
Mr. Becker was the first chairman and remains on the board of TechPoint, a change agent for Indiana’s technology industry, and is Chairman of the Board of the TechPoint Foundation, a group established to bridge the digital divide in Indiana. Mr. Becker is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Central Indiana Community Foundation (CICF), a public charity established to improve philanthropic services supporting the central Indiana region, and of the Central Indiana Corporate Partnership, an alliance of CEOs and university presidents working to promote economic growth.
A firm believer in the value of higher education, Mr. Becker has supported a number of Indiana universities. He is currently a member of the Dean's Advisory Council for the School of Informatics at Indiana University (IUPUI) and has served on advisory boards for The Robert C. McDermond Center for Management and Entrepreneurship and the IT Associates Program at DePauw University as well as the Board of Trustees at Vincennes University.
Mr. Becker is a 2001 recipient of the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award and a 2002 recipient of the TechPoint Trailblazer in Technology award. In 2004, he was named Sagamore of the Wabash by Indiana Governor Joe Kernan. In 2008, he was inducted into the Junior Achievement-sponsored Central Indiana Business Hall of Fame.
Jeffrey K. Harty - Executive Vice President and Chief Operating
Officer. Mr. Harty joined First IB in June of 2000. Mr. Harty is
the former Chief Financial Officer and Partner of Monument Advisors,
Inc., a merchant bank, where he was responsible for financial operations
oversight. Before joining Monument Advisors, he was Vice President
of Acquisitions and Treasurer for Millbourne Equity Trust (formerly
Monument Realty), and Chief Financial Officer of Automotive Finance
Corporation (AFC), a wholly owned subsidiary of ALLETE Inc. (NYSE:
ALE). Before AFC, he was Treasurer of ADESA Corporation following
its acquisition by ALLETE, where from 1988 to 1995, he held numerous
positions, including Senior Business Development Analyst.
Laurinda Swank - Senior Vice President and Chief Financial
Officer. Ms. Swank is a CPA and joined First IB in August of 1999
in the position of Controller. Previously, Ms. Swank was Controller
at Automotive Finance Corporation (AFC), a wholly owned subsidiary
of ALLETE Inc. (NYSE: ALE). Before her four years at AFC, she served
within the public accounting firm of Ernst and Young, LLP. Ms. Swank also holds the title of Secretary of the Board of Directors.
David R. Lovejoy - Vice Chairman of the Board. Mr. Lovejoy assumed the role of Vice Chairman in January 2007. Mr. Lovejoy joined First IB
in July 1999 as a director and served as First IB President from June 2000 to December 2006. From 1993 to 1999, Mr. Lovejoy was Vice Chairman
of Mellon Bank Corporation in charge of Financial Markets and Corporate
Development. In that capacity, Mr. Lovejoy was a member of the Office
of the Chairman and responsible for all issues relating to Mellon's
strategic direction, development and growth as well as Mellon's
mortgage banking, venture capital, securities lending, commercial,
international and institutional banking and global capital markets
and foreign exchange activities. During 1991 and 1992, Mr. Lovejoy
was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Western Energy Management,
a company he guided through a restructuring and revitalizing merger.
From 1970 to 1990, Mr. Lovejoy held various positions with Security
Pacific Corporation, including Vice Chairman, and positions in commercial
and international lending, treasury and global capital markets.
Ralph R. Whitney, Jr. - Director. Mr. Whitney has been a
principal of Hammond, Kennedy, Whitney & Co., Inc., a New York
financial intermediary and private investment banking firm, since
1971. Mr. Whitney was a director of Excel Industries, Inc. from
1983 to 1999 and was Chairman of the Board of Excel from 1983 to
1985. Excel was recently merged with Dura Automotive Systems, Inc.
and Mr. Whitney continues to serve as a director of Dura Automotive.
Mr. Whitney is Chairman of the Board of Reinhold Industries, Inc.
and is a director of First Technology, PLC, IFR Systems, Inc., Realm
Wireless Communications, Inc., Selas Corporation of America and
Baldwin Technologies, Inc.
Jerry Williams - Director. Mr. Williams was
in the private practice of law in Indianapolis for over 30 years
with the firm of Williams & Taylor and currently is Of Counsel
with the firm of Sommer Barnard Attorneys PC. Previously, Mr. Williams
served as Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Director
of ADESA Corporation
(NYSE: KAR). While with ADESA, Mr. Williams was responsible for
structuring ADESA's over twenty acquisitions, in addition to his
corporate legal duties. Mr. Williams serves as a director of NNC
Group, a company in the pharmaceutical industry, and Indiana Secondary
Market for Education Loans, Inc., a state chartered, nonprofit organization
that makes and acquires higher education loans.
Jean L. Wojtowicz - Director. Ms. Wojtowicz founded a consulting
firm in 1983, Cambridge Capital Management Corp., and currently
serves as its President. Cambridge is a manager of non-traditional
sources of capital for businesses. Ms. Wojtowicz serves on the boards
of several Indiana companies and organizations as well as national
professional organizations including National Association of Development
Companies (NADCO) and National Association of Business Development
Corporations (NABDC).
